Let's Help To STOP Climate Change! #TEAMTREES
Posted 11th November 2019. Category: General.
What really caused climate change? Cars? Industrial waste? Cows??? Truthfully, all of them (yes, including cows) is a contributor to our ever-increasing carbons in the atmosphere. Electric scooters might help to reduce the carbon emission by reducing the usage of cars. Even buses in Sydney had gone electric! We should be proud to call ourselves Australian. Right..?
Well, we produce about 402.253 Mt CO2 per year by the end of 2017. Which is about the 16th place for the most fossil CO2 emission in the world. First place was taken by China with 10,877.218 Mt CO2 per year, contributing to 29.34% of all the fossil emission in the world. Followed by the United States by 5,107.393 Mt CO2 per year and the European Union by 3,548.345 Mt CO2 per year. So, quite a lot.
On October 2019, MrBeast uploaded a video about planting 20 million trees to celebrate the 20 million subscribers. The goal is to plant 20 million trees before January 2020. Seems impossible? Alone, yes. Let’s play with numbers, if you are planting a tree, it will take probably 3~5 minutes once you’re a professional (figures are estimates). That means you can plant 12~20 trees per hour. Let’s multiply it by 8 hours so, 160 trees max by the end of the day. By yourself, it would take 125,000 days or 4,107 months or 342 years to complete. So, we would need more than 125,000 people to finish it in a day. And that is if every single one of 125,000 people would spend 160 trees each. What if, I tell you there is a more natural way for us to contribute to saving the planet?
teamtrees.org can plant a tree for every dollar you donate. They are a non-profit organisation that aims to help the planet that we are all living to a better one. You can help by planting a tree in your garden or help grow more trees to reduce carbon emission. Moreover, you can also contribute to carbon offset by choosing carbon filtered flights, lower your car usage whispers use electric scooters~ Planting these 20 million trees are a lot, right? So, I planted a tree, and why do I have to reduce my car usage still? Well, one tree is capable of filtering about 22kg of air on average per year. Not much, huh? Not at all. If you drive a car, one tree will cover you 8 litres of gas or petrol per year, which on an average car, that will help filter your 30 km trip. So, take trains when possible, it’s good for everybody.
Elon Musk had one of the highest donations of 1 million dollars or 1 million trees to contribute and help towards reducing carbons in the atmosphere. Not only Elon, but Tobi Lutke from Shopify, Marc Benioff from salesforce.com and many others had acknowledged and recognised the climate change is happening, had happened, and will get worse if we don’t do something about it. These people don’t just stand there, but they do something about it. I personally believe people who are willing to stop climate change and do something about it are the best kind of people. Because, it is easy to demand a change or making a blog about it, posting it on an electric scooter website, but, it is more difficult in reality to change. We want a change, but who wants TO change?
Donate today, not for your children, not for humanity, not for the animal, but, for yourself. Because, you matter most to yourself and If you are reading this, I would assume you come from the earth, right? It’s time for us not to demand what the world owes us, but rather 'What can we give to the world?'
